Terms of Membership
1. Who we are and what this covers
Cana is operated by Cana Gatherings LLC, a Texas limited liability company (“Cana,” “we”). These terms cover the waitlist, the membership application, membership itself, and attendance at Cana gatherings. By joining the waitlist, applying, paying, or attending, you agree to them. Our Privacy Notice and Refund Policy are part of these terms.
2. Who Cana is for
- Adults 21 and over who are legally single: never married, divorced, or widowed. Cana is not for anyone who is married or separated.
- Christians who affirm the Cana Statement of Faith: that Jesus Christ is your personal Lord and Savior, that He died and rose again for our sins, and that you believe in the Holy Trinity, God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. This affirmation is a condition of membership, not a preference setting.
- People who are ready for marriage and willing to meet other members in person, with kindness and honesty.
3. How membership works
- Waitlist. Free. It reserves your place in line for invitations. It is not membership.
- Application. A $15 application fee covers your identity verification and background screening. Applying does not guarantee acceptance. We decide membership at our discretion, and we will tell you our decision, though we may not always be able to share the reason.
- Vetting. Every member completes a short video welcome call with ID in hand and gives separate written consent to a background screening run by an accredited provider. Members are re-screened periodically. If we cannot verify who you are, we cannot admit you.
- Membership plans. Member: $15 a month plus $20 per gathering you attend. Table: $39 a month with every regular gathering included. Prices are shown before you pay, and founding members keep their founding rate for as long as their membership stays active. Special events may carry a separate ticket.
- Billing. Memberships renew monthly until you cancel. You can cancel any time by emailing contact@joincana.com; cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid month. See the Refund Policy.
- Introductions are free. We never charge to introduce two members to each other, and we never share your contact details with another member unless you both opt in through Cana.
4. Code of conduct
- Treat every member as a brother or sister in Christ. Kindness is not optional.
- Be truthful about who you are: your name, your age, your marital history, your faith.
- No pressure, no pursuit after a “no.” If a member declines an introduction or asks for space, that is the end of it.
- Respect the Safety Contact and hosts. Their word is final in the room.
- No alcohol is served at Cana gatherings, and no one arrives intoxicated.
- No photography of other members without their consent. You may opt out of Cana’s own event photography at check-in.
- No soliciting, recruiting, or selling to members, and no using Cana to gather contact information.
We may decline an application, remove a member from a gathering, or end a membership, with or without notice, if we believe these terms have been broken or the safety or trust of the community is at risk. Membership fees for the current month are not refunded in that case.
5. Gatherings
Gatherings are invitation-only and held at public, vetted venues in the Austin area. Only members who have completed vetting and hold a confirmed RSVP may attend. Dates, venues, and capacity can change; if we cancel or reschedule, we will tell you as early as we can and the Refund Policy applies. Guests are not permitted unless a specific gathering says otherwise.
6. What we do not promise
Cana provides a vetted community and hosted gatherings. We do not promise that you will meet a particular person, receive an introduction, form a relationship, or marry. Screening reduces risk; it does not eliminate it, and each member remains responsible for their own judgment and safety in their interactions with other members, including outside Cana events. Cana is not a licensed counseling or therapy service.
7. Your account and communications
Keep your contact details current. We will email you about applications, gatherings, and billing; those messages are part of the service. Marketing emails always include an unsubscribe link.
8. Limits on liability
To the fullest extent Texas law allows, Cana Gatherings LLC, its founder, hosts, and volunteers are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for the actions of other members, venues, or sponsors, and our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amounts you paid Cana in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
9. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas. If something goes wrong, write to us first; most concerns can be settled with a conversation. Any dispute that cannot be resolved that way will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Travis County, Texas.
10. Changes
If we change these terms, we will post the updated version here with a new date, and for meaningful changes we will email members before they take effect.
